What truly is reason? What moves us?
Nash speech in the movie "Beautiful mind" (click and watch)
In a previous post I refered to Pascal statement about the reasons of our heart. He says that heart has reasons which reason itself cannot recognize. In the film "Beautiful mind", which is based on a real story, Jonh Nash recognizes that all his seach for reason were only possible and only made sense because he found love. It is beautiful and I think this would link to what Basel Pascal once said. It would make a nice piece of dialogue; an interesting one since both were man of numbers and science:
Pascal: - You know Nash, "Heart has reasons which reason itself cannot recognize.
Nash: - "It is only in the mysterious equations of love that any logic or reasons can be found", my friend.
Now, the real speech performed in the film. Enjoy it!
Nash: Thank you. I've alwas believed in numbers and the equations and logics that lead to reason, but after a lifetime of such pursuits, I ask, "What truly is logic?" "Who decides reason?" My quest has taken me through the physical, the metaphysical, the delusional -- and back. And I have made the most important discovery of my career, the most important discovery of my life: It is only in the mysterious equations of love that any logic or reasons can be found. I'm only here tonight because of you [wife, Alicia]. You are the reason I am. You are all my reasons. Thank you.
*Life seems to be worth living when we finally find out the reason of all reasons. My search in life is love. The answer to all my questions certainly lies in real, concrete, achievable love.
